Diet in Pregnancy
Diet during pregnancy should be adequate enough to provide :-
- Maintenance of mothers health
- Need of growing fetus
- Strength and vitality during delivery
- Successfull lactation
- Myth- she has to eat for two so she has to eat double.
- Though she has to eat for two, she just has to increase diet by 300 calories
- Diet during pregnancy should be- light, nutritious, easily digestible, rich in proteins, vitamins & minerals
- Half a liter milk
- Lots of green vegetables & fruits
- Rather than 3 full meals, 5 short meals
- Adequate liquid
What to avoid in pregnancy :-
- Alcohol
- Smoking
- Tobacco
- Unpasteurized milk products
- Undercooked meat
- Packed food
- Avoid oily and spicy food
Protein should be adequate enough in your diet which is important for growing babies
For Vegetarian :- Paneer, Pasteurized Cheese, Curd, Peanuts, Sprouts, Etc,.
For Non-Vegetarian– Eggs, Seafood, Chicken, Etc,.
Water intake during pregnancy should be minimum 1.5 to 2 liters per day.
