Dr. Debdutta Gomes to Represent India at Berlin International Art Exhibition, Showcasing the Soul of Indian Culture Through Modern Visual Storytelling

Delhi, India – July 2025 — In an era where digital speed often overshadows soulful creation, Dr. Debdutta Gomes stands as a rare beacon of emotional depth, cultural richness, and artistic purpose. A celebrated visual artist, cultural thinker, and poet, Dr. Gomes will represent India at the upcoming International Art Exhibition in Berlin, Germany, in October 2025—a prestigious platform where global masters will gather to showcase the future of art.
For Dr. Gomes, this milestone is not just a professional triumph—it is a heartfelt tribute to his father, Reginald Gomes, a gifted artist who, moments before passing, silently handed over his painting materials to Debdutta. That sacred gesture became the emotional cornerstone of Dr. Gomes’ artistic journey, transforming personal loss into a mission rooted in legacy, love, and responsibility. “That moment changed everything,” says Dr.
Gomes. “It was more than a blessing. It was a command to carry the legacy forward—and I
promised myself I would.”
Despite working full-time in printing press marketing, and managing his household responsibilities alone, Dr. Gomes paints through the night—channeling every emotion,
struggle, and memory into his canvas. His works reflect themes deeply inspired by Indian culture: women empowerment (such as Durga in modern form), the emotional duality of life (Navarasa masks), spiritual gestures (Nine Mudras), and the harmony of Indian classical music (Nine Ragas). His creations are not merely visual—they are spiritual dialogues, aiming to preserve and reinterpret India’s soul for the global audience.

Dr. Gomes has earned both national and international recognition for his distinctive visual style and cultural contribution. In 2025, he was awarded the Honorary Doctorate in Fine Art and the Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating his decades-long dedication to the promotion of Indian art and heritage. He has also received the Vande Mataram Award in 2024 and 2025, the International Award for Excellence in Art (2020), and the Global Achiever Icon Award (2025). Other notable honors include:
- Kamal Ratna Kala Purashkar (2025)
- National Talent Award (2025)
- Top 10 Rising Star Award (2025)
- Brooklyn Award (2025)
In a landmark achievement, Dr. Gomes was also appointed as a judge for the International Art Competition 2025, organized by Anuragyam, a global platform recognizing emerging creative talent. His role as juror reflects his refined artistic eye, philosophical depth, and commitment to supporting young voices in art.
Beyond the accolades, what truly sets Dr. Gomes apart is his human story. Living alone in Delhi and battling long working hours, he finds time to honor his artistic calling not out of obligation, but out of pure devotion. “My art is born from solitude,” he reflects, “but it
carries the voices of my ancestors, my culture, and everyone who’s ever struggled with purpose.”

Among his upcoming works is a moving piece inspired by a moment on a Kolkata overbridge—where he witnessed a pregnant, mentally challenged girl peacefully knitting a sweater for her unborn child. “Her calmness in the face of hardship moved me,” he recalls. “She represents the unsung resilience in our society—and I knew I had to tell her story
through art.”
His artistic philosophy is influenced by Rabindranath Tagore, Indian classical music, and ancient Indian spirituality. With his upcoming Raga Bhairavi painting, and a planned Navarasa series that delves into emotional duality, Dr. Gomes continues to push boundaries, ensuring traditional Indian themes remain alive and understood in modern contexts.
Dr. Gomes also blends his art with metaphysical insight. His upcoming Nine Mudras series
reflects spiritual energy channeled through sacred hand gestures. “Mudras are not just
hand signs—they are ancient wisdom encoded in gesture,” he explains. “And I want the world to see that.” His reverence for natural geometry, balance, and the golden ratio further influences his compositions.
As India prepares to shine on the global art map at the Berlin exhibition, Dr. Gomes is ready to present artworks that not only display mastery in technique but resonate with the essence of what it means to be Indian in a globalized world. “I’m not just showing art,” he says. “I’m carrying my country’s spirit with me—its music, mythology, emotions, and humanity.”
With a clear mission to inspire future generations, Dr. Gomes emphasizes that legacy isn’t born from luxury—it is carved through persistence, purpose, and inner fire. “I want young artists to know that even with limited time, resources, or support—you can still leave behind something meaningful. I started with nothing but a promise. And that has taken me across the world.”
As Berlin awaits, Dr. Debdutta Gomes continues to paint not just with color, but with memory, message, and meaning.
